On Saturday 15th April 2023, we attended this year’s Vaisakhi event, an annual religious Sikh celebration which marks the birth of the Khalsa (a group of baptised Sikhs), in Gravesend.
We raised awareness about our advice and support services to people, provided brief general advice and signposted people to local services.
Thousands of people attended the event which consisted of a procession, called Nagar Kirtan, around Gravesend followed by a religious festival, called Dharmic Mela, at the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara football pitch.
The event also included Sikh Martial Arts (Gatka) and bhangra performances along with a funfair for children.
