Homelessness Prevention Project

Homelessness Prevention Project

Funded by National Lottery’s ‘Reaching Communities’, our Homelessness Prevention Project supports people facing actual and threatened homelessness and those at future risk.

There are lots of ways we can help people avoid homelessness and support people in housing crisis, including:

  • Advise and support people facing homelessness
  • Support and represent people facing possession proceedings or eviction
  • Liaise and negotiate with landlords, housing associations and mortgage advisers
  • Offer support with money management, debt, benefits and income maximisation
  • Help prevent a situation getting out of control and reaching crisis point

We are keen to work with community partners to identify and support local people at an earlier stage, before they reach crisis point.

If you are a support organisation, you may see the warning signs before your client does.

With the client’s permission, you can make a direct referral to our Homelessness Prevention Project using ReferKent – a free online secure referral system supporting partnership working across Kent. We will then make contact with your client to offer support.

To join ReferKent, free of charge, visit the Kent County Council website and search for ‘ReferKent’.
